Rock n Roll

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Rock has been a popular form of music and entertainment for decades. It is popular in America and in plenty of other countries all around the world. World famous bands like Led Zeppelin and AC/DC have been known to do worldwide showings that have sold out at every single showing. And those are just two examples. There are plenty more bands who produced tons of great music in their day.

Still all great things must come to an end and Rock is no exception. Other forms of music, such as techno and hip-hop, have taken the top spot as the party music. In my opinion, the biggest reason for this is the amount of crappy, pop rock that has been produced in recent years. This music lacked the hardcore feel that could be found in other forms of music.

So just like any popular trend Rock has had it’s time. The stuff that was made in the past was good and still is. But because the new stuff is so lame, people have probably lost interest.

R&B Lineage

I love R&B. I love the soul of the artist and the voice of the singer. I can link R&B to other very similar but older musical styles and I think there is a very strong connection. I think that the newer music evolved from the older styles.

I like blues music as well. The emotion that the artist had was beautiful. I also love soul. I believe that somewhere along the way blues evolved into soul. The music sounds pretty similar. The songs also all have very similar themes. Some blues songs might even be considered soul and vice versa. From there I think that some how soul evolved into R&B. This music is even more similar to soul than blues was. R&B was usually a little slower but for the most part the themes for these types of music were almost totally identical.

These three types of music are some of my favorites and they all bear very similar features and traits. They all have very groovy sounds and they all have some pretty sad and melancholy themes. They are not all sad. A lot of them are very upbeat in fact. But one thing is for sure. They are all from the same lineage.

Country Music Capital

I was born and raised in Nashville. I have never been a real big fan of country music, but on the other hand, I am a huge fan of live music. I don’t really care what kind of music is being played I just love to watch the musicians do their thing. My favorite part is watching them jam. I love it when they really get it going. In my opinion, it’s not about what kind of music and the most important part of the live show is how to musicians get the crowds revved up and just entertain. If the guys can really show off and make the music fun and enjoyable to watch then I admire that guy and respect his music and it is truly enjoyable.

I have been to plenty of live shows and I consider myself very lucky to live in Nashville and have to opportunity to see so much great live music. Even though country music may not be my favorite, it can be very entertaining and that’s really what it’s all about.
